Miller Nash welcomes Janna Akers to the firm’s employment law & labor relations team. Janna, based in the firm’s Long Beach office, helps employers navigate and resolve workplace issues including disputes involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, and unfair business practices.
Janna joins Miller Nash’s eminent employment law & labor relations team which represents local, regional and national companies and public entities and institutions in all facets of labor and employment law in union and nonunion environments. Attorneys work closely with clients' human resource professionals, managers, and executives and provide advice on day-to-day workplace and personnel-related matters. They also regularly conduct trainings and workshops on employment topics.
Before joining Miller Nash, Janna practiced at a national law firm where she focused on labor and employment law. She also has experience handling civil matters such as personal injury and accident cases which gives her a broad perspective on how to approach complex disputes.

Akers represents clients in mediation, arbitration, and litigation in both state and federal courts, and works closely with them to develop practical strategies for resolving conflicts and protecting their interests. She approaches client service with genuine care and dedication, seeking to create relationships built on trust and mutual respect. She is passionate about guiding clients through challenges with empathy and clarity, always striving to ensure they feel supported and understood throughout the process. Akers received her bachelor’s degree from Scripps College before earning her law degree at Chapman University Fowler School of Law.
