Miller Nash LLP, one of Portland’s premier law firms, announced today its upcoming move in early 2024 to the West End neighborhood of downtown Portland into the new 11W building at Southwest 11th Avenue and Southwest Washington Street.

Miller Nash’s move to 11W is prompted primarily by the firm’s shift to a hybrid work model, as well as its desire to be located in a neighborhood with a vibrant, energetic streetscape. The firm will occupy the top floor of the commercial space in the new building, which will offer flexible options like hoteling offices with operable windows, collaborative spaces, shared parking, and dedicated outdoor spaces including balconies and terraces.

“We are proud to call Portland our home and excited to reaffirm our commitment to our city with our move to the West End and 11W,” said Kieran Curley, managing partner at Miller Nash. “We evaluated a number of options before selecting 11W as our new home but have never wavered in our commitment to downtown Portland. We will continue to lead the way in the revitalization of the downtown core through partnerships with groups like the Portland Business Alliance, Greater Portland Inc., and SOLVE.”

“We are celebrating our 150th anniversary in 2023, and we attribute that success in part to our willingness to adapt to changing times,” continued Curley. “11W is a beautiful, thoughtfully designed building that’s engineered for our new normal—a hybrid work world. With this relocation, we have the opportunity to redesign our office for the future and incorporate features that allow more flexibility for our workforce, better client service, and more community engagement.”

Portland’s West End is a vibrant, busy section of downtown approximately bounded on the north and south by West Burnside and Southwest Yamhill Street, with Southwest 10th Avenue and Southwest 14th Avenue as its east and west borders. It is a hub of chic independent boutiques, restaurants, cocktail bars and galleries.

“Our relocation sets our employees in the heart of a lively downtown location with activity day and night. They are looking forward to working amid a rich retail and restaurant scene, in a building with state-of-the-art features and amenities.”

Recently completed 11W is a 25-story mixed-use tower with 115,000 square feet of office space, 213 best‐in‐class apartments and penthouses, curated ground-floor retail, and underground parking. The offices are outfitted with sophisticated air filtration systems, glass panel walls that open to the outside and a modern fitness studio. 11W also features a 25th floor commercial chef’s kitchen and event space for private tenant events and meetings. The property is a member of the West End Security District, which provides the neighborhood with highly effective private security and cleaning services. The building is at the forefront of environmental sustainability and is targeting LEED Platinum certification.

“Miller Nash is a part of the fabric of our city, and the firm’s move into one of downtown Portland’s most dynamic neighborhoods represents a reenergized new chapter in their history,” said Matthew Goodman at Downtown Development Group. “The quality of this cutting‐edge Class A building is aligned with Miller Nash’s legacy and fantastic reputation.”

The firm cites the Goodman family’s long local history of development and management in Portland as an additional boon to the relationship. 11W is owned in a partnership between Downtown Development Group (the Goodman Family) and investment firm Cresset Partners.

“The Goodman Family continues to be civic-minded leaders focused on Portland’s success, and their continued commitment to our city is vital for our future. We greatly appreciate our personal relationship with the Goodmans, as well as their hands-on care that they show all of their tenants,” said Curley.

Colliers’ Trevor Kafoury and Al Kennedy represented the landlord in the transaction. Miller Nash was represented by Nathan Sasaki at Apex Partners.
