Miller Nash Graham & Dunn partner Thomas Sand was selected to join the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Membership is peer-nominated and by invitation only to lawyers of high personal character and honorable reputation, among other competitive qualifications. ABOTA strives for improvement in the ethical and technical standards of practice in the field of advocacy. ABOTA has chapters in every state, and its members constitute the most well-respected trial lawyers nationwide.

About Thomas Sand
Sand focuses his practice on general trial work and business litigation, with emphasis on securities, employment and other commercial matters. He has successfully tried numerous jury cases in several different state and federal courts, and has argued and won appeals in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Oregon Supreme Court and the Oregon Court of Appeals. In addition, Sand has handled hundreds of arbitrations and also serves as an arbitrator and mediator.

Sand was the managing partner of Miller Nash from 1999 through 2008. He currently serves on the boards of the Multnomah Bar Association, Portland Golf Club, and Children’s Cancer Association. Sand has been recognized in Oregon Super Lawyers’ Top 50 list since its inception, including three times in the Top 10. He has also been listed in Best Lawyers in America for Bet-the-Company Litigation for the past ten years, recognized by Chambers USA as a “Leader in Their Field” and elected as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2014. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Oregon before receiving his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School.
