Miller Nash attorney, Sophia von Bergen, has been elected to serve as president-elect (2025-2026) and president (2026-2027) of the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) within the Multnomah Bar Association (MBA). As President of the YLS, Sophie will oversee the section’s committee operations, serve on the MBA Board of Directors, and will continue to support the section’s efforts to find opportunities for professional growth and community involvement.
“It is an honor for my peers to elect me to serve as president of the YLS,” says Sophie. “I have been fortunate enough to have been involved with the YLS for several years now and have always appreciated the support of this community. I am looking forward to stepping into this leadership role and collaborating with fellow members of the section to support newer attorneys within Multnomah County.”
The YLS was created in 1980 and makes up approximately one fourth of the MBA’s membership. This is an inclusive section of the bar, comprised of any MBA member in practice less than six years or under the age of 36. The YLS provides leadership, networking, professional development, and service opportunities. The section includes four committees: CLE, Membership, Pro Bono, and Service to the Public. Sophie has been an active member in YLS, including being appointed as cochair of the YLS CLE Committee in 2023.
