West Coast Law Firm Miller Nash LLP Names Six New Partners in 2024

Miller Nash LLP has promoted six attorneys based in the firm’s Portland and Boise offices to partner, effective January 1, 2024: Erin Burris, Craig Chamberlain, Ryan Hall, Justin Hobson, KC Hovda, and Vanessa Triplett Kuchulis.

Erin Burris, Portland
Erin represents higher education institutions, K-12 institutions, public school districts, and private schools. She defends education clients in litigation and advises on issues including student rights and discipline, employment issues, Title IX of the Education Amendments Act, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act, and an array of statutes affecting faculty and students. Erin’s employment practice includes advice and litigation related to a wide range of wage and hour issues, discrimination, retaliation, employee discipline, wrongful termination, and other tort claims.

Craig Chamberlain, Portland
Craig represents lenders in a variety of financing transactions, from multi-lender, multi-property affordable housing transactions to single-lender, unsecured loans. His role includes drafting and negotiating debt and security documents, analyzing title reports and land surveys, and reviewing diligence documents. Craig’s experience further includes drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, commercial and residential leases, and ownership-transfer documents, as well as preparing business formation and governance documents.

Ryan Hall, Portland
Ryan focuses his practice on construction law. With an emphasis on litigation, he has represented owners, contractors, and public entities alike and has litigated breach of contract, construction lien foreclosure, and construction defect claims. He has litigated a variety of matters outside of the construction industry, including employment claims, corporate governance disputes, and adversarial bankruptcy matters. Ryan also has experience negotiating and drafting construction contracts, planning and forming business entities, and providing general business advice.

Justin Hobson, Portland
Justin’s practice focuses on corporate and tax matters. He assists businesses, from startups to large international corporations, on tax issues and business transactions. Justin also has experience with corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, securities offerings, and corporate governance. Justin began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where his practice primarily focused on international tax matters.

KC Hovda, Boise
KC is a commercial litigator who represents clients in complex business litigation, banking, and contractual matters. She has worked collaboratively with clients in various sectors including financial services, energy, agribusiness, food retailers, manufacturing, insurance, and real estate. KC is exceedingly adept at supporting large, national manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors in high-stakes litigation.

Vanessa Triplett Kuchulis, Portland
Vanessa’s practice focuses on construction and real estate disputes, as well as drafting and negotiating commercial construction contracts. She represents public and private owners, general contractors, developers, and subcontractors in a wide range of projects focused on education, technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and hospitality. Vanessa also represents residential real estate brokers and services companies in disputes related to property sales contracts and transactions, as well as drafting, advising on, and litigating commercial leases.
