Miller Nash LLP is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed Diversity Lab’s Mansfield 6.0 program and has achieved Mansfield Certification Plus status—making 2023 the fourth year the firm has earned the Certification Plus distinction. The firm was one of 175+ leading law firms nationwide receiving Certification under Mansfield 6.0 and one of 91 large firms receiving Certification Plus status this year.

In continuing its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, the firm is also proud to share that it is taking the next step by participating in the Mansfield Rule 2023-2024 Certification Program.

The “Plus” designation indicates that Miller Nash has not only taken steps to increase inclusivity in leadership, but it has also made measured progress in doing so. Mansfield Certification Plus status recognizes that, in addition to considering at least 30 percent women, underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and attorneys with disabilities for recruitment, leadership roles, and inclusion in formal pitch presentations to clients, the firm has also successfully reached an aggregated total of at least 30 percent women, minority, and LGBTQ+ lawyer representation in a notable number of leadership roles, including the Executive Committee, Partnership Committee, Office and Practice/Industry/Department team leadership.

“Our results under the Mansfield Program demonstrate that we have had success in some areas, while helping us identify where to focus our efforts in areas where there is still work to be done,” said Brie Coyle Jones, the firm’s chief diversity officer. “This is why our participation in Mansfield 2023-2024 is but one of many commitments and investments we are making as a firm to support, build on, and enhance our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.”

Participation in Mansfield 2023-2024 aligns with Miller Nash’s commitment to achieving true diversity and inclusion across its firm, all levels of management, each practice team, committees, and staffing of every project. In addition to participating in Mansfield 2023-2024, the firm continues to take additional actions to further its commitment, which include offering 1L Diversity Fellowships each summer, creating several identity-based affinity groups to offer camaraderie and professional development opportunities, offering a flexible day of paid time off to support racial justice, and sharing a firm cultural calendar that provides additional educational information and resources throughout the year for a broad range of cultural holidays. The firm remains a leader in sponsoring and participating in local minority bar association activities and events, offers fee discounts to small and emerging women and minority businesses, and continues to provide up to 150 hours of billable hour credit to attorneys for diversity and inclusion and pro bono work.
