Tom Sand Elected President of the Multnomah Bar Association



Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP attorney Tom Sand was recently elected to serve as president of the Multnomah Bar Association (MBA). His presidency went into effect September 6, 2016, and will run until June 1, 2017. For over 100 years, the MBA has provided a forum for lawyers to gather together for collegiality, to improve the justice system, to provide law-related community service and to access services and benefits that strengthen professionalism, satisfaction and success. As president, Sand is responsible for overseeing all activities of the MBA and its nearly 4,000 members, including the monthly board and executive committee meetings and the MBA annual meeting and dinner event in May, and will contribute monthly to the Multnomah Lawyer.

About Tom Sand
Sand focuses his practice on general trial work and business litigation, with emphasis on securities, employment and other commercial matters. He has successfully tried numerous jury cases in several different state and federal courts, and has argued and won appeals in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Oregon Supreme Court and the Oregon Court of Appeals. In addition, Sand has handled hundreds of arbitrations and also serves as an arbitrator and mediator.

Sand was the managing partner of Miller Nash from 1999 through 2008. He currently serves on the boards of the Portland Golf Club and the Children’s Cancer Association, and he is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Sand has been recognized in Oregon Super Lawyers Top 50 list since its inception, including three times in the Top 10. He has also been listed in Best Lawyers in America for Bet-the-Company Litigation for the past ten years, recognized by Chambers USA as a “Leader in Their Field” and elected as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2014. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Oregon before receiving his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School.
