Sean D. O'Brien


Sean’s practice focuses on assisting clients with obtaining patent, trademark, and copyright protection throughout the world, while meeting the clients’ goals in a candid, proficient, and cost-effective manner. Sean also has years of experience in asserting and defending patent, trademark, and copyright infringement matters in federal court litigation and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; resolving disputes outside of litigation; and negotiating licensing and settlement agreements. Also, Sean advises and represents clients for Post Grant Review and Inter Partes Review patent proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board as well as for opposition and cancelation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

While attending Loyola Law School, Sean was a member of the intellectual property moot court team and was also Chief Production Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. Sean received the First Honors Award for the highest marks in Trademark Law.

Before becoming a lawyer, Sean worked as a design engineer and project engineer at an aerospace company, where he designed, tested, and manufactured electro-hydraulic antiskid brake control valves for airplanes. Sean also worked in the automotive industry on door seal and electrical wiring-harness technologies.
