Miller Nash's Elise Brickner-Schulz Elected President of International Paralegal Management Association
Portland, Ore. – Oct. 22, 2008 – Elise Brickner-Schulz, director of legal support services for Miller Nash, one of the Pacific Northwest's largest multispecialty law firms focusing on business and litigation, has been elected president of the International Paralegal Management Association (IPMA). Effective Oct. 16, Brickner-Schulz will coordinate day-to-day activities, serve as the chief representation and oversee the financial well-being of the IPMA, in addition to several other responsibilities.
"Elise is a longtime leader for Miller Nash who continues to play an integral role in ensuring that our customers receive the highest caliber of support and legal services," said Don Burns, managing partner of Miller Nash. "We are incredibly proud of her achievements with the IPMA and look forward to seeing her leadership as president of the organization."
As director of legal support services, Brickner-Schulz is responsible for supervising and coordinating workloads for the firm's paralegals and project and library staff. Brickner-Schulz is also the firm's frontline for reviewing new software and technology for the litigation practice group. She is involved in Miller Nash's new associate training program and assists in training new litigation associates. Brickner-Schulz is a member of the firm's diversity, pro bono, technology and safety committees and is also involved with the Oregon Paralegal Association, National Bar Association and Multnomah County Bar.
Brickner-Schulz joined Miller Nash in 1987 as a paralegal. During her tenure, she has assisted with more than 50 trials and designed and implemented in-house litigation management systems. Her diverse experience includes securities; corporate and shareholder disputes; banking and financial institutions; litigation, arbitration and mediation; products and liability; and public policy and government. Additionally, she coordinates and oversees outside counsel for Miller Nash affiliated cases nationwide.
Brickner-Schulz is involved in the community including the Multnomah County DUII Victims Impact Panel and the Race Committee and Awards and Recognition Committee for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
