Professional Experience John Casey Mills has been practicing law since 1984 and has been with Miller Nash since 1987. He currently serves as the firm's diversity partner. He represents lenders in loan negotiations, documentation, workouts, and collections. He also represents creditors, creditor committees, and debtors in bankruptcy cases and proceedings.
Professional Activities Casey is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Oregon and Washington. He has spoken at seminars on creditors' liquidation of security interests, the effect of employer bankruptcy on workers' compensation claims against the employer, the effect of bankruptcy on hazardous substance contamination claims, and potential malpractice traps for bankruptcy attorneys. Casey is presently a director of the Northwest Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association. He also serves on the Board of Governors for the Pacific Northwest College of Art.
Board Certifications Casey is board-certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Bankruptcy Board of Certification. (The Supreme Court of Washington does not recognize certification of specialties in the practice of law, and the certification is not a requirement to practice law in the state of Washington.)
Education Casey earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics and urban studies at Brown University and his law degree, cum laude, at Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College.
