Professional Experience
Hong N. Huynh joined Miller Nash in 2000. She focuses her practice on environmental, natural resource, telecommunications, and energy law. Hong has extensive experience in environmental and natural resource law, gained by assisting public and private clients on transactional, compliance, and litigation matters. She has defended clients in environmental enforcement actions and Superfund litigation as well as advised them through cleanup and permitting regulatory programs, assisted them in the sale and purchase of contaminated properties and businesses, and helped them recover environmental costs from insurance companies. She has worked with many utility companies, including telecommunications, cable, transportation, and energy companies, as well as trade associations on regulatory and transactional matters and has appeared on their behalf before public utility commissions.
Before joining Miller Nash, Hong worked in the Office of the Solicitor, U.S. Department of the Interior, in Washington, D.C., where she advised her clients on water, energy, and natural-resources issues.
Professional Activities Hong is admitted to practice in Oregon. She is an active member of the section of Environment, Energy, and Resources of the American Bar Association, the Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the Federal Communications Bar Association, and the Multnomah Bar Association. She was recently selected to be on the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar Environmental and Natural Resources section. The Portland Business Journal recently named Hong as one of Oregon's 2008 "Forty Under 40."
Civic Activities Hong formerly sat on the steering committee of the Northwest Environmental Conference and currently serves on the editorial board of Natural Resources & Environment, an American Bar Association quarterly publication. In addition to being a member of the Oregon Minority Lawyers Association, she is a Region 5 delegate for the House of Delegates, and a former member of the Oregon State Bar Affirmative Action Committee.
Education Hong earned her bachelor's degree in biology and literature at Pacific University. She received her law degree from the University of Oregon, where she was co-executive editor of the Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation.
Personal Activities Hong was born in Rach Gia, Vietnam, and speaks Vietnamese. She enjoys hiking, backpacking, and playing tennis.
