Professional Experience Elisa J. Dozono joined Miller Nash as an associate in the litigation department in 2006. She focuses her practice on business litigation and government relations. Elisa has over 11 years' experience in communications management and government relations, including corporate media manager for the Port of Portland, communications director for former Portland Mayor Vera Katz, and media relations director for former Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber's transition. In 1996, she led the Clinton/Gore campaign in Oklahoma. She has also worked as a news producer for Portland's KATU television. Before joining Miller Nash, Elisa externed for the Honorable Ann Aiken of the U.S. District Court of Oregon.
Professional Activities Elisa is admitted to practice in Oregon. She is a member of the Oregon Minority Lawyers Association, Oregon Women Lawyers, Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Multnomah Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and American Bar Association. Elisa was appointed by US Senator Ron Wyden to assist in the recommendation process for Article III judicial candidates in 2008 and by US District Court Chief Judge Ancer Haggerty to assist in the recommendation process for a US Magistrate judge position in 2007. During the 2008 presidential election, Elisa served as local counsel to the Hillary Clinton for President campaign. Elisa was selected for inclusion in Law & Politics Super Lawyers-Rising Stars Edition 2008, received the Cliff N. Carlsen Jr. Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Achievement, and most recently was named to the Portland Business Journal's 40 Under 40.
Civic Activities
A fourth-generation Portlander, Elisa currently serves as Multnomah County's appointee to the Metropolitan Exposition Recreation Commission, which oversees the regional convention, exposition, and performing arts facilities. Elisa also sits on the board of directors for the Japan America Society of Oregon and is a member of the Oregon Business Association transportation committee, World Affairs Council, and Portland City Club. Elisa has spoken on several panels regarding diversity in the legal profession and donated hundreds of hours on pro-bono service to the ACLU and the Juvenile Rights Project. Elisa recently helped launch Emerge Oregon, the premiere program for recruiting and training Democratic women to run for office, and now serves as the board president. Elisa has served as finance chair for the Democratic Party of Oregon and as public relations chair for the Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure, as a Young Executive Board member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland, and as a member of the board of directors of the Northwest District Association.
Education Elisa received her bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University's College of Communications. She earned her law degree and certificate in general business law from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon, where she was also a member of the Business Roundtable.
Personal Activities Elisa is a columnist for The Asian Reporter, and enjoys running, skiing, reading, films, and traveling.
