Greater Seattle Business Association recognizes Jennifer Divine for professional and philanthropic efforts to enhance social equality
SEATTLE, Wash – Miller Nash LLP’s Seattle partner, Jennifer Divine, has been named Business Leader of the Year for 2012 by the Greater Seattle Business Association. Established in 1981, the annual award recognizes members of the community who exemplify corporate citizenship, excelling in both their work and philanthropic efforts, while striving for social equality.
Divine was one of hundreds nominated for this year’s award and was selected by a committee of former recipients and community leaders. The organization cited Divine’s work on the Defense of Marriage Act Supreme Court case as being influential in her selection.
“Jennifer is a natural leader and a genuine corporate citizen; she is the perfect person for this award,” said Guy Towle, Seattle office partner-in-charge. “Jennifer utilizes her immense legal expertise to assist her clients, organizations and community every day. We are thrilled to see her honored by this award and proud to have her on the Miller Nash team.”
Divine recently joined Miller Nash LLP and specializes in employment and education law. She has extensive experience defending and advising public and private employers in a wide range of cases, including discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful discharge, whistleblower/retaliation, and wage-and-hour claims. Divine also focuses a large part of her practice on helping educational institutions navigate the growing number of legal, regulatory, and public relations issues they face in carrying out their missions.
Divine is an active member of the community. She currently serves on the board of the Seattle Girls’ School and is a member and past board member for the Greater Seattle Business Association as well as the Greentree/Little Eagles Child Care Centers.
Divine was recognized by the Greater Seattle Business Association for her achievements during the 2013 Business & Humanitarian Awards Dinner held on Feb. 21 at the Marriot Waterfront in Seattle.
