Dan Oates Named Editor-in-Chief of Franchise Law Journal

Dan Oates was recently named Editor-in-Chief of the Franchise Law Journal. The Franchise Law Journal is published quarterly, by season, by the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising. The publication seeks to inform and educate members of the bar by publishing articles, columns, and reviews concerning legal developments relevant to franchising as a method of distributing products and services.

Oates assumes the Editor-in-Chief position on August 1, 2018 and will serve in the position for three years. He previously served as an editor of the publication—title and article editor in 2013; associate editor from 2014 to 2018.

About Dan Oates
Oates is an experienced commercial litigation whose practice focuses on franchise and distribution, banking, real estate, administrative law, and trademark litigation. He co-chairs the firm’s Seattle litigation practice group and regularly appears in state and federal court, as well as before administrative bodies, licensing boards, and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He has published articles in leading industry and practice publications and presented at national industry conferences. Oates earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Washington before receiving his law degree with distinction (summa cum laude) from Seattle University School of Law.
